System Requirements for AGS Students

Students taking onsite, online, or hybrid courses access course materials and submit assignments using an online learning management system. Students may choose between a Windows or Apple computer as long as the computer provides access to the minimum hardware and software requirements noted below:

  • Operating System: Microsoft Windows™ version 7 or later
  • Microsoft Office 365™ (For a free online version, use your OCU email at http://products.office.com/en-us/student)
  • 1 GHz CPU or higher
  • 2 GB RAM
  • DVD/CD-ROM
  • USB port
  • Sound card and speakers
  • 1024 x 768 or higher resolution monitor
  • High speed Internet access is required (10 Mbps or higher download speed)
  • Current Web browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, & Mozilla Firefox)
  • Webcam and built-in microphone are optional, but highly recommended

NOTE: Some disciplines utilize software that requires a Windows operating system. Since Apple computers use the same Intel chips as Windows computers, they can be configured either to boot up in Windows (using free software, such as Bootcamp that is provided by Apple, but students must pay for a retail copy of Microsoft Windows) or they can run Windows in parallel with Mac OS (by paying for an application such as VMware Fusion).  Students choosing to use Apple products are responsible to ensure that their computer is capable of running the required Windows operating system. A possible reference for that information is Apple's website at http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
